2026 Scholarship Deadline is March 6th - you still have time!


The Cleveland Hockey Booster Club is now accepting applications from high school seniors currently playing hockey and planning to attend college or trade school in 2025-26.

Multiple scholarships will be awarded. As contributions are still being made, we do not have final totals, however the highest award given is the Matthew Castro Shlonsky Memorial Scholarship which will be awarded to an applicant we believe has overcome adversity, shows leadership or dedication in an exceptional way.

Note: all documents will need to be submitted in PDF/Word format and should be sent to CHBCscholarship@gmail.com.

Deadline for full packet submission is Friday, March 6th.

Eligibility:

1. High school senior currently playing school or club hockey in one of the following:

- North Coast High School Hockey League / Cleveland Suburban Hockey League (NCHSHL/CSHL)

- Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League (GCHSHL)

- Great Lake Hockey League (GLHL)

- Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Summit, Medina, Lorain or Portage County

2. Graduating High School in 2026 and planning to attend university/college or trade school in 2026-2027.

3. There is no GPA requirement, we are requesting two letters of recommendation as follows (please ensure letters include contact information should we like to follow up on submission letter):

    a. Letter from coach or assistant coach which includes :

    ★ How has the player displayed good sportsmanship and/or leadership?

    ★ Confirmed earned a Varsity Hockey Letter or participated in Club Hockey for two or more years.

    b. Letter from a teacher/counselor/advisor (not another athletic coach) :

    ★ How would they describe the overall character of the student athlete?

    ★ Confirmed commitment to learning and continuing their education.

4. Submit an essay (2-3 pages): Describe how your character traits were impacted by your involvement in high school hockey and how that may influence your approach to future challenges?

Winners will be notified by phone call and will receive 3 tickets to the Scholarship Fundraiser banquet held Tuesday, March 24th (attendance encouraged).

Our beloved Cleveland Monsters play by play announcer Tony Brown is slated to be our MC for the evening. It is also one of our biggest fundraisers for the year, spread the word to attend.

Non-winning applicants will be notified once all winners have been contacted.
